Company OverviewHal's Harley-Davidson started out as J&S Cycles in West Allis, Wisconsin. Originally owned by John and Sharon Sekulich, it earned a reputation for service excellence. The business grew, and by 1969 had moved to its past location in New Berlin. In 1978, the Motor Company's 75th Anniversary year, Hal Topel acquired the dealership and changed its name to Hal's Harley-Davidson.Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Hal grew up in his grandfather Earl's Nash-Rambler dealership, where he learned the operations end of the business. He has always been a motorcycle enthusiast. In the late '50s he was sport riding and scramble racing and selling Triumph and BSA motorcycles part time evenings and weekends. By the mid '70s, Hal's son Kirk was sharing his father's love of motorcycles. The two rode on weekends, attending the many dirt track races held throughout the Midwest. These weekend rides were the seed that ultimately grew into what is now Hal's Harley-Davidson/Buell. What made Hal and Kirk successful in the early years was their strong desire to satisfy customer wishes. Rooted in the 'service first' philosophy begun by J&S Cycles, Hal's Harley-Davidson/Buell remains an active place where customers become friends. Today, Hal's is celebrating our 25th year in business. We are an authorized dealer retailing approximately 700 new and used Harley and Buell motorcycles each year. Located on Milwaukee's west side between I-94 and I-43, we employ 85 full-time riding enthusiasts, half of whom work for the service department. We now have a 16,000 square foot state of the art service department/facility that maintains a 24-bay facility complete with machine shop, dyno room, and flow bench capabilities. We also have a 6,000-square-foot repair center, which handles all collision repairs, insurance work, and used bike reconditioning. One of the worlds largest retailers of Buell Motorcycles, Hal's has been honored by it's customers and recognized by Buell with the prestigious Pegasus Award eight years in a row. Our parts and motorclothes departments always have a special sale ongoing and maintain many creative programs such as tool rental, bike building, performance advantage or collector locator, which provide added value to our customers. Hal's is the proud home of the Kettle Moraine Chapter of the Harley Owners Group. An active group of approximately 1,600 riders that gathers monthly for social activities, they're known as the "hospitality" chapter. The Brew City B.R.A.G. Club was founded in November 2000. We ride, have fun, and promote all that is good with motorcycling today. |
