Company Overview
With Indian Values at the heart of our mission, the Indian Community School provides each child in our care with the best educational opportunities to develop spiritually, morally, emotionally, physically, socially, artistically, and intellectually in order to achieve the child's greatest personal and community potential.

Core Values are gifts from the Creator that express the Indian philosophy of life through fundamental convictions, collective beliefs and exemplary character. Among the many Core Values give by the Creator, the Indian Community School experience focuses on:
  • Bravery
  • Love
  • Truth
  • Wisdom
  • Humility
  • Loyalty
  • Respect
We believe that... As teachers, we are mentors of our children for all time. We labor to stand against anger, sadness, criticism and defeat. Our hearts shall be full of peace and our minds filled with an urgency for the welfare of our children. With endless patience, we embrace our duty. Our firmness shall be tempered with tenderness. Our words and actions shall be marked by calm deliberation.

We are a privately owned and operated urban intertribal school educating American Indian children from 4 year old kindergarten through the 8th grade and employ approximately 95 individuals. Serving the Indian community of metro Milwaukee for over 30 years, ICS has provided its students a unique learning experience. Founded out of the failings and frustrations of the area public schools to address the needs of its native students, ICS succeeds by teaching not only to the students mind, but to their body and spirit. We believe the role of the Indian Community School is not confined to the world of academics, but must be strongly based in our native cultures and traditions. American Indian spirituality, languages, ceremonies, cultural identity, and pride are major components of our children’s education. All of our teachings, whether it is math or tribal creation stories, incorporate seven core values: bravery, love, truth, wisdom, humility, loyalty, and respect. It is our belief that students who embrace these values will be successful not only in school, but life as well.

The school serves children in grades K4 through 8th grade who are enrolled Native American tribal members or are descendants of enrolled Native American tribal members. The school serves children from eleven different tribes. The student body is made up of 293 students; 143 boys and 150 girls.
