Our History
The kindness and compassion Marquardt Village is widely known for could not be better demonstrated than in the story of the retirement community’s founding.
A study commissioned in 1965 revealed that Watertown was the largest Wisconsin city without a resource of any kind to care for its seniors. That didn’t sit well with former Watertown resident Dr. Milton Ochs, so he generously donated the land where the community is now located to the Moravian Church Western District to build a faith-based retirement community.
To this day, Marquardt Village has stayed true to its generous, selfless roots, remaining a not-for-profit community sponsored by the church.
