Mission and Values

At Lincoln Lutheran, we Honor God by Serving People.

At Lincoln Lutheran, we have celebrated aging since 1954. We are privileged to serve older adults in Southeastern Wisconsin by providing housing, skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, assisted living and a wide variety of community services.

In response to our faith-based heritage, we are value driven and people centered. Our activities and services are guided by our values of Compassion, Honesty, Respect, Teamwork and Financial Integrity. Our values define who we are. Our values guide us in our actions towards all the people we come in contact with – residents, customers, families, visitors, vendors and each other. Our values unify us as an organization by providing a common belief system for us all.

The Story of our Logo...

We are an organization which has its roots in Christ's teaching. We honor our faith-based heritage by including a cross in our logo. The cross is formed by a series of L's which hearken back to our earlier logo. As before, the color is green, the liturgical color of hope. The heart is, of course a symbol of love and caring. It represents the central idea of what God calls us to do for our residents, their families and one another.

History

Proud of Our Past

In late 1953 and early 1954 something sparked in the minds of several Lutherans in the Racine area. There needed to be a better way to care for the community’s aging. With the threat of communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, small pox, and pneumonia nearly eradicated with the emergence of vaccines, other health problems presented themselves. The elderly were the new victims needing increased medical care. Diseases such as Alzheimer’s, arthritis and general ailments associated with old age became the new big foes. Something had to be done.

On June 25, 1954, a corporation was formed to make this dream a reality. The corporation, which would later be known as Lincoln Lutheran of Racine, consisted of members from the Lutheran Men of America, deaconesses and pastors from 16 partner congregations.

Embracing Our Future

The needs of the elderly in our community are changing. Seniors are living longer and in better overall health. Over the years, Lincoln Lutheran has seen a myriad of changes and developments with the corporation and within the community it serves. Lincoln Lutheran is keeping up with the changing needs of today’s seniors and will continue to do so for years to come.
