American is a leading retailer of consumer electronics, appliances and furniture. Founded in 1954, American has built a market leading reputation for selection, price, and outstanding customer service.
Corporate headquarters is based in Madison, Wisconsin with 11 stores: 6 stores are located in Wisconsin: Madison East; Madison West; Brown Deer; Waukesha; Oak Creek; and Appleton. One store is located in Marquette, Michigan. We have 2 stores in Ilinois: Rockford and Peoria. We presently have 2 stores in Iowa: Davenport and Des Moines. Supporting the stores are a state-of-the-art Distribution Center in Waukesha, Wisconsin and a Service Center in Madison.
Each American store averages 100 employees. In addition to the retail sales departments, each store has operations for customer assistance, warehouse, service/installation and delivery.
