Job Description

Position Overview:
Under the general supervision of the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Controls Technician assembles, maintains, and upgrades various pieces of process equipment. The Controls Technician will be responsible for completing forms and documents completed work.

Essential Job Functions:

 
 
  • Understands basic power distribution.
  • Understands PLC based automation.
  • Understands basic pneumatics.
  • Understands basic hydraulics.
  • Installs enclosures, conduit, and raceways.
  • Installs sensors, controls, HMI.
  • Performs calibrations of production equipment.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots production equipment.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots controls of compressed air, boilers, and HVAC.
  • Maintains security/access control systems.
  • Directs subcontractors relating to power distribution, building controls, and security/access control systems.
  • Follows CPI cGMP practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Follows CPI safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills/Knowledge Required:
 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • A basic understanding of the purpose and contents within the Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).
  • Knowledge of various types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available and how/when to use it.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language at a level necessary for efficient performance.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, co-workers, and/or clients.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions:
The Controls Technician works in various environments. These may include cGMP manufacturing, utility support, and outdoor/rooftop areas. The Controls Technician may participate in the construction and occasional maintenance of equipment located at the Sauk City, WI facility. The standard workday is approximately 8 hours with varied starting and ending times. There is an occasional need for extended hours which may include weekends.
