Job Description

Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Production Chef will prepare all meal-kit items, frozen foods, and baked goods in adherence with the recipe standards to ensure that all food prepared meets Exact Sciences standard of excellence. This position will also assist in the training of other Food Service professionals and serve as a key resource for team members. The Production Chef will oversee a team of line cooks in the back of house function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality of service at all times.
  • Ensure any updates, changes, and additions in recipe files are followed.
  • Follow Exact Sciences standards for food quality, preparation, recipes, and presentation.
  • Complete production sheets daily and review them with manager as a planning tool for purchasing.
  • Work with leadership in ordering all food and supplies based on production and business needs.
  • Implement and follow cleaning schedule for kitchen.
  • Ensure stations are stocked and set up correctly.
  • Ensure proper rotation of all products and stock product to par level.
  • Assign and complete required prep work a day ahead.
  • Assist other kitchen members with production prep work and cleaning responsibilities.
  • Ensure all meals are accurately displayed, packaged, and served.
  • Comply with sanitation/safety standards within Food services and ensure all personnel follow safety/sanitation standards.
  • Keep leadership promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters. Take prompt corrective action when necessary or suggest alternative course of action.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.
  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Culinary Arts Degree; or Bachelor’s degree in food service, hospitality management, or related field; or high school degree/general education diploma and 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of experience working in food service management, hospitality management, or related field.
  • 1+ years of direct leadership experience.
  • Must be able to obtain Serve Safe certification within 90 days.
  • Basic computer skills to include Internet navigation, Email usage, and word processing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
