Job Summary

The PACE Driver operates under the direction of the Supervisor, PACE Transportation and is responsible for the direct transportation of physically limited passengers to and from various destinations. Position requires constant interaction with caregivers and community agencies.

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for driving a specially equipped van to deliver physically limited persons to varied destinations. Assures that wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are properly operated and that participants are delivered to appointments in a timely manner. - 35%

  • Ensures that passengers get on and off the van safely.\u00A0 Interacts with participants in a courteous manner. Operates medical equipment as needed. Responds to emergencies that may arise in accordance with established protocols. - 25%

  • Responsible for maintaining established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes. - 20%

  • Ensures vans maintain a clean, orderly and safe condition. Reports maintenance issues as needed. - 10%

  • Responsible for completing documentation as required. - 5%

  • Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team.\u00A0 Attends staff meetings and takes part in participant care planning.\u00A0 Communicates any changes in participant condition to team members. - 5%

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 1 year - experience with a frail or elderly population

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

SCDL - SC DRIVERS LICENSE

Other Required Sills and Experience

Acceptable five year motor vehicle record and valid certificate of auto insurance.
