Smith+Nephew's Arthroscopic Enabling Technologies division is working on the development of the next generation of medical devices to enable surgeons to perform minimally invasive surgery. As we grow, we are seeking an FPGA Engineer, who will be a contributor to the development of medical device hardware, encompassing digital image acquisition and processing, computer vision, and video streaming. This is an exciting career opportunity for a high potential engineer interested in the advancing their career through the design and development of sophisticated, high-speed digital electronics for medical applications.

What will you be doing?

  • Design, prototype, and develop FPGA circuits within medical products, including RTL design and coding, simulation, modeling, test bench verification, and IP block integration.

  • Collaborate with PCBA designers to support FPGA connectivity and functionality.

  • Investigate new technologies that could be used in the future products.

  • Provide engineering support as needed in the development of test protocols and fixtures.

  • Support authoring Design History Files (product specifications, design and test documents, etc.) as needed.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Education:

    • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience:

    • 2+ years of experience in digital logic design such as FPGA, CPLD, and Gate logic design.

    • 2+ years of experience in Hardware Descriptive Languages (Verilog or System Verilog preferred).

    • 2+ years of experience with FPGA and CPLD development and simulation tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.

  • Travel Requirements: Less than 10%
