Job Description

Position Summary:

Facilities Management at UW-Platteville invites applications for Maintenance Technician position. The Maintenance Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs basic equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. This position also assists with construction, and operational maintenance as needed.

This is a full-time, , and eligible position. Wage for this position is $17.00-$19.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
  • Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
  • Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities under general supervision
  • Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
  • Compares and evaluates possible project outcomes and/or variables and executes independent decision making after considering all of the various possibilities

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • H.S. Diploma
  • Basic equipment maintenance experience
  • Prior painting experience
  • Capability to safely and accurately comprehend instructions to build fixtures and assemble furniture
  • Capability to safely perform general construction work such as framing and trimming
  • Familiarity with a variety of construction materials and tools
  • Ability to read design plans and blueprints
  • Capacity to safely lift 50 lbs.
  • Valid Driver's license
