Position Summary:

The Technical Engineering Director for SSI Technologies will be responsible for overseeing and leading the technical aspects of sensor development projects. This role involves managing a team of engineers, setting technical direction, ensuring product quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business goals. The Director will also play a key role in research and development, technology selection, and maintaining a high standard of innovation within the organization. Strong leadership, technical expertise, and a strategic and entrepreneurial mindset are essential for success in this position.

As the Technical Engineering Director for our specialty engineered sensor company, the primary focus will be to lead and guide the technical team in the development of cutting-edge sensor technologies and work with current and new customers to solve and provide technical solutions to their sensing problems. This includes overseeing the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization to product validation and deployment at the customer.

Overall, this role as Technical Engineering Director is pivotal in driving the technical excellence of our sensor products, contributing significantly to SSI's success in a very competitive market.

Position Requirements:

  1. Innovation and R&D: Drive continuous innovation by staying abreast of industry trends, conducting research, and exploring new technologies. Foster a culture of experimentation and exploration within the engineering team.
  2. Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. Ensure that the team is motivated, well-coordinated, and aligned with the company's objectives.
  3. Technical Strategy: Develop and execute a technical strategy that aligns with the company's overall business goals. This involves identifying emerging technologies, assessing their relevance, and incorporating them into the sensor development roadmap.
  4. Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce rigorous quality assurance processes to guarantee the reliability and accuracy of our sensor products. Implement testing protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  5. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and manufacturing, to ensure that engineering efforts are aligned with market needs and business strategies.
  6. Technology Selection: Lead the evaluation and selection of key technologies, components, and materials for sensor development. Make informed decisions based on technical feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and market trends.
  7. Technical Talent Development: Identify skill gaps within the team and implement strategies for skill development and training. Foster a culture of learning and growth within the engineering department.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant industry regulations and standards. Ensure that sensor development processes adhere to compliance requirements and certifications.
  9. Project Management: Effectively manage multiple sensor development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This involves resource allocation, risk management, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
  10. Budget Management: Work closely as part of the executive team to develop and manage the engineering budget. Ensure optimal utilization of resources and cost-effective project execution meeting and exceeding quoted project targets.Maintain confidential employee files to include personnel and medical
  11. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
  12. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  13. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Professional/Technical Experience, Skills and Education:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, required.
  2. Expertise in sensor technologies, signal processing, and relevant domains. A deep understanding of the technical intricacies involved in sensor development, required.
  3. Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, develop, and guide a technical team. Effective communication, high-pressure decision-making skills, and conflict resolution are essential, required.
  4. Proven capability to develop and execute a strategic vision with a customer-centric mindset including aligning engineering efforts with broader business objectives, anticipating future industry trends and managing complex engineering projects, required.
  5. A track record of fostering innovation within engineering and cross functional teams, driving research and development initiatives, implementing creative solutions that comply with industry regulations and standards and offer a robust quality assurance process, required.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, required.
  7. Eight (8) years of progressive technical engineering experience, required.
