Overview

As a Student Nurse Intern, you will provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting, supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values and strategic plan. This position is tied to our Float Pool department, which will allow for opportunities to work within our multiple in-patient units.

The Student Nurse Intern position is built to provide additional experience for nursing students within their last two semesters before graduation. This position is under the direct supervison of an RN on a unit. You would be placed within a primary unit to gain additional training and knowledge. Multiple units are open to Student Nurse Interns and will be considering applications.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the RN, provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients in the hospital setting and designated outpatient departments by performing the following duties, supporting the nursing philosophy. Partner with a RN to provide exposure to clinical experiences that will reinforce theory and prepare them for their roles as RN. May include weekends, holidays, day, evening, night, and/or on-call hours. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Graduate of High School or GED
Enrolled in an accredited, or accredited eligible, RN program , in academic good standing and have no more than 2 semesters to complete until program completion


Certification and Licensure

Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days (other certifications per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP).
