Per Diem RN position for Same Day Surgery department with a focus on the care of pediatric patients who are coming for procedural sedation,

RN to be cross trained to care for both outpatient and inpatient surgical patients, as well as pediatric patients leaving the department or nursing unit for testing or procedures,

As a sedation RN the nurse is responsible for the preoperative and postoperative care of the pediatric procedural patients,

RN and an anesthesiologist work together to care for patient during the test or procedure,

Special skills required include pediatric IV insertion, Foley insertion and phlebotomy,

Prior PACU or pediatric ED experience preferred,

BA or BS in nursing degree required,

Completion of Clinical experience in NLN accredited school preferred,

Minimum 2 years pediatric experience preferred,

3 years of medical and/or surgical nursing or other relevant periop experience required,

Current NJ RN Licensure required,

National Certification preferred,

BLS, PALS and ACLS required,
