Overview

FT FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST

Love what you do and come grow with us! Be a joyful, welcoming first impression for every patient entering our out-patient oncology/hematology office. Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week. No evenings or weekends. We offer medical, dental, visition, 401k and many other benefits.

SCOPE: Under general supervision is responsible for greeting patients and visitors into the clinic in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. Insures all appropriate forms are complete, accurate, and signed according to company guidelines. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical staff. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.



Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets patients and visitors into the clinic in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. Obtains all appropriate forms as required.

  • Obtains demographic and insurance information. Obtains copy of patients' insurance cards and current driver's license for file. Updates demographic information as needed in the system. Sends new insurance information to PBR.
  • Prepares and organizes new patient charts. Notifies nursing staff of patient arrivals, placing charts in appointment order. Assists in preparing charts for next day's appointments and prints schedules as needed.
  • Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit. Issues receipts if necessary. Balances money collected at the end of shift.
  • Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Identifies no shows and cancels and follows policies for follow-ups.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.
  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office. Covers for other front office functions as requested.
  • Prepares correspondence, memos, forms, and other typing as requested by supervisor.
  • Answers incoming calls and routes them to the correct person or takes accurate messages.
  • Schedule appointments distributes faxes and covers for other Receptionists vacation and sick times.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum three years office experience, preferably in a medical office out-patient setting.
