Job Summary

Develops and implements security measures for access to District technology systems, including network, Active Directory servers and LINUX/UNIX Operating System. Responsibilities include security analysis at the network, server, and application level on all computing platforms. Responsibilities on these systems include system administration, engineering and provisioning, operations, monitoring support, maintenance, and research to ensure continual innovation. Reviews and enforces systems access under the principle of least privilege (PoLP).

The salary range is $64,676 - 93,057 (12 months/260 days)

This position may allow for a hybrid remote work schedule (work from home for a portion of the workweek) within the state of Wisconsin.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of experience in systems or network administration, software engineering, and enterprise security management performing duties related to this position.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Cybersecurity certifications such as GSEC desired.
  • Ability to write technical specifications, operational and end user documentation.
  • Familiarity with security tools (SIEM, Endpoint protection, Forensics, Firewalls, Vulnerability Scanners, Penetration Testing, etc.).
  • Familiarity with mobile device management tools such as SCCM, Intune, Google Workspace, JAMF, Mosyle, or similar.
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends to support planned and unplanned outages and upgrades.
  • Strong analytical abilities and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of vendors and staff.
  • Must be able to meet multiple deadlines set with varying deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Confers with user departmental management and development staff to define security for new or modified software; to define staff/student/parent data access needs and risk of data loss or disclosure.
  • Performs Security Risk and Exception Assessments and\or Penetration testing.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and responds to security-related incidents.
  • Reviews access violations recorded by security systems and reports violations to management.
  • Informs Technology management about security issues and presents recommendations for improved security programs.
  • Develops and implements security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.
  • Develops and implements security measures for access to District processing systems, including network, Active Directory servers and LINUX/UNIX Operating System.
  • Utilizes mobile device management tools such as SCCM, Intune, Google Workspace, JAMF, and Mosyle to automate, control, and secure administrative policies on laptops, smartphones, tablets, or any other device connected to the district's network.
  • Assists with security functions of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure, including, but not exclusive to the following systems: physical and virtual Windows servers, WMware, and Linux based servers, Cisco network switches and routers, Active Directory including group policy, Palo Alto firewalls, content filtering, and cloud systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, AWS, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Provides Tier 1 support for District account creation and modifications including troubleshooting of directory services, batch processing of user accounts and importing account information from source systems.
  • Assists with the district's employee and student badge systems and processes.
  • Administers systems access controls such as Multi-Factor Authentication and ensures complete organizational compliance.
  • Assists with internal and external audits.
  • Attends meetings to provide technical expertise and project updates.
  • Creates, verifies, and maintains documentation of assigned information systems.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining the district's Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Participates in systems on-call rotation.
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
