Your Team

As a Senior Principal Engineer you will be responsible for the research & development of advanced surgical products. You will take part in the entire product lifecycle, focusing on technical on-market and manufacturing process support of existing products. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on technical abilities and an understanding of process development to develop creative solutions to challenging issues and a passion for their work in redefining surgical care!

What you will be doing:

  • Serve as the lead for the engineering of new and on-market surgical products.

  • Leads the technical process development with manufacturing partners.

  • Drive innovations for improving current product designs and manufacturing processes, involving Voice of Customer input where applicable.

  • Build and maintain technical documents found in a DHF, such as verification/validation reports, technical drawings, and specifications. Maintains detailed design documentation through all phases of product development.

  • Provide technical leadership to project teams working closely with the Project Manager, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and key technical core team members, guiding them in terms of problem resolution, process clarification, referrals to appropriate experts, etc.

  • Research and analyze design and experimental data to understand technical issues and set a direction for issue resolution.

  • Lead or mentor junior technical staff on projects.

What you will bring:

  • B.S. in science or engineering field (preferably Bioengineering/Biomedical/Chemical Engineering, Food Science ) with at least 8 + years professional experience.

  • Demonstrated ability in new product development and have experience with manufacturing process development or transfer of product design into manufacturing.

  • Direct experience with the product development process ranging from requirements development, design for manufacturing, verification, and product release.

  • Experience in medical device or other regulated industries.

  • Preferred experience with statistical methods, problem analysis and resolution, materials science, and design of experiments.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $120,000 to $165,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
