The VP, Commercial Sales will provide leadership, vision, and strategies that drive aggressive growth in the large group commercial market. This role will own responsibilities for broker relationships to drive large group commercial sales and direct all aspects of large group commercial sales activities and sales leaders. The VP, Commercial Sales will also build and diversify Quartz's presence in relevant markets and develop strategy goals for large group commercial sales and monitor performance to the strategy and goals.

  • Starting salary range based upon skills and experience: $159,400 - $203,000 plus robust benefits package
Responsibilities
  • Actively pursue and develop new customers. Ensure the growth and retention of current Commercial membership by developing appropriate strategic retention plans.
    • Develop and maintain excellent/collaborative relationships with independent agents and other third parties where such contacts are integral to the achievement of large group commercial sales goals.
    • Identify key growth markets.
    • Identify and implement emerging trends to drive innovation on the large group commercial market sales team.
    • Develop business plans and product strategy to grow market share in new markets.
    • Train and hold staff accountable for delivering upon the Quartz Value Proposition to capture key prospects.
    • Remain knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and all aspects of Quartz's large group commercial market.
    • Represent the Company at various community activities; meet and network regularly with business leaders in the community.
  • Direct the activities of the large group commercial sales staff for the purposes of meeting organizational sales growth objectives.
    • Train, motivate, and set stretch goals.
    • Periodically review and emphasize personal and company goals to ensure alignment with corporate mission and strategic and tactical plans.
    • Provide opportunities for professional development.
    • Reward and recognize accomplishments and successes.
    • Hire and discipline staff as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales, finance, or health care administration or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in the health care delivery and sales in group health or managed health care business
  • 6+ years of supervisory or management experience with proven ability to grow a profitable block of group health insurance business
  • Valid health/life insurance license(s) for Quartz service area
  • Excellent professional, well-developed communication skills (written and verbal) with strong ability to collaborate with individuals and groups at all levels
  • High degree of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Ethical in decision-making and all other matters
  • Ability to express a clear vision of future goals and organizational expectations and inspire others to achieve the goals
  • Ability to effectively interact in group situations and accurately receive/present information regarding complex issues
  • Present a positive impression of self and Quartz to external parties
  • Excellent knowledge of physician and other provider practices, methods, and needs
  • Excellent knowledge of planning, team building, and effective operational techniques
  • Travel to external locations including off-site locations approximately 75% with some overnight stays

This position may work remotely but will be required to report to our office in Madison, WI. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
