Direct Supervisor: Schools of Hope & 21st Century Careers Coordinator Full Time Equivalent: 1700 hours of service from September 1, 2021 – August 31, 2022 (average 35-40 hours/week) Work Hours: Approximately 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Fridays: AmeriCorps member meetings and training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Flexibility needed for team meetings, special projects, etc. Location: Patrick Marsh Middle School (Sun Prairie).
PROGRAM GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The AmeriCorps PASS Member with the Urban League of Greater Madison will serve at Patrick Marsh Middle School. PASS AmeriCorps Position provides academic enrichment for youth through tutoring and classroom support activities during the school day and by developing and facilitating quality after school activities through the 21st Century Careers Program. This position also provides enrichment and engagement opportunities for youth at Patrick Marsh Middle School through the development and facilitation of before, during, and after school clubs and/or student organizations, including, but not limited to, boys or girls groups, Panther Pack (community service club), & the Patrick Marsh school garden. In conjunction with the PASS supervisor, there is also the ability to develop additional enrichment opportunities for students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete a Work Plan that outlines professional goals and a schedule to provide PASS program activities
Provide 1:1 literacy tutoring to at least 8 Patrick Marsh Middle School students
Assist with the development, preparation, and delivery of extended learning opportunities, specifically the 21st Century Careers Program & it’s summer internship component (Project REACH)
Work with teachers to provide support in classrooms as needed
Assist in developing community service projects for students including facilitating Panther Pack
Develop and facilitate school day student engagement opportunities, including boys/girls groups and garden club
Respect youth cultural differences
Ensure safe and enriching environment for all program participants
Maintain appropriate boundaries and conduct with youth at all times
Assist in planning and implementing special projects and seasonal events as needed
Assist with adult tutor volunteer management
Participate in PASS orientation and AmeriCorps required events
Participate in weekly AmeriCorps members meetings and training hours (Fridays from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM)
Understand and actively contribute to PASS meeting its program performance measures
Keep thorough required records (attendance, surveys, etc.)
Complete quarterly PASS data reports
Participate in ULGM sponsored events and other required service events
PASS Members receive a biweekly stipend of approximately $634.69 (pretax).
