Job DescriptionJob Overview:

Must be able to work closely with all Leadership personnel in making timely and consistent decisions regarding all aspects of the manufacturing process of cream cheese in this facility. This position must be able to assess specific areas of the operation and participate in developing potential process needs, with anticipation and avoidance of possible problems as well as constant good judgment and be within a reasonable timeframe. The employee in this position must demonstrate leadership ability, exceptional interpersonal skills, clear oral and written communication skills, a strong working knowledge of plant production process policies, with a focus on quality standards and safety rules. This employee must be flexible and able to work extended hours to provide plant coverage whenever necessary.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Perform the job responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Complete documentation and maintain records as required by Kraft standards.
  • Participate in start-up and hand-off meetings at the start and end of shift.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of processing, sanitation and production positions.
  • Provide training and direction to other team members as required based on business.
  • Knowledge of the Production Schedule.
  • Provide relief to equipment operators, fill check, cooks, and Class B's on lines as needed.
  • Assist Line Techs in checking underweights and high moisture product.
  • Assist in line set-up.
  • Coordinate break coverage on all lines.
  • Collect line samples and return to lab as needed.
  • Daily GMP checks of hand dips, trash stickers, brushes, foggers, etc. in area of responsibility and correct as needed.
  • Perform air exposures, finger contacts, pre-start-up swabs, and cheese reads as needed.
  • Perform air volume checks where needed.
  • Perform sanitation duties where needed.
  • Ability to provide feedback to fellow employees with follow-up regarding all aspects of the cream cheese process.
  • Support plant Quality Systems.
  • Ability to fill in as a floater (sanitation, operating, etc.).
  • Ability to perform required IL6S tasks.
  • Perform relief duties of a Conversion Group Leader.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED Required.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and utilize plant approved safe lifting practices for over 50 pounds.
  • Must adhere to all Kraft Policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and follow internal Kraft Heinz Procedures.

  • Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends/holidays.

    • First Shift: 5am - 1pm
    • Second Shift: 1pm - 9pm
    • Third Shift: 9pm - 5am

  • Plant History:
    • J.L. Kraft purchased the Phenix Cheese Company in 1928, only 25 years after selling cheese to grocers in Chicago from his horse drawn wagon.
    • In 1929, approximately 90 employees in the Kraft-Phenix Cheese Plant in Beaver Dam produced 10 million pounds of Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Neufchatel, Camambert Cheeses, along with butter and sweet cream.
    • Separation technology, which allowed cream cheese to stay fresher much longer - going from 18 days to 120 days, was developed in Beaver Dam by Oscar J. Link in the 1940's.
    • In the 1960's the plant underwent a major remodeling to add additional cooler storage and dry storage. Kraft Heinz continues to invest in the Beaver Dam facility with state-of-the-art technologies in the cream cheese industry.
