Job Description
Summary:

Provides subject matter expertise and support to production, with a primary focus in sustaining engineering, new product/process introduction and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

• Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members, and evaluating results including the development and execution of validation plans/protocols and performance analysis for manufacturing processes.
• Lead continuous improvement projects utilizing lean manufacturing & six sigma methodologies.
• Collect and analyze statistical process control (SPC) data to optimize manufacturing processes.
• Create engineering drawings and develop 3D solid models.
• Design fixtures to improve production and inspection processes.
• Create manufacturing work instructions.
• Create/modify programs for CNC machines.
• Create/modify programs for automated inspection equipment such as CMMs, vision systems and optical comparators.
• Provide engineering support for initial production runs for new product development.
• Provide documentation support for engineering change requests.
• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience with machining (turning, milling, grinding) and fabrication processes.
• Proficient with 3D CAD and solid modeling (SolidWorks a plus)
• Experience with CAM programming (PartMaker a plus)
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) standards and use
• Highly organized with strong documentation skills
• Experience with dimensional measurement equipment including CMMs, optical comparators, vision systems, calipers, micrometers and bore gages.
• Strong quantitative skills including the use of statistics for decision making processes.
• Ability to use problem solving, project management and technical skills in a dynamic and diverse production environment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Education/Experience:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred; or at least three or more years of similar experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role delivering results within a precision machining environment.
• Swiss turning process experience is highly desired.
• Medical and/or Aerospace experience is highly desired.
• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
