About our group:

Seagate delivers advanced digital storage solutions to meet the needs of today's consumers and tomorrow's applications. Recording Head Technology organization plays a critical role in developing advanced recording technology and new data storage platforms. We apply both theoretical, experimental, as well as ML/AI data science approaches in technology development and data analytics. CPU/GPU linux cluster system is the main big data infrastructure that support our day-to-day work.

About the role - you will:

  • End-to-end system support services to linux cluster application end users.
  • Help install, manage, and maintain our linux cluster systems including hardware, operating systems, and user applications. Interface with internal IT teams.
  • Monitor and retain health of systems to minimize the risk of sudden failure and address hardware and software issues.
  • Help maintain, update, and replace our systems to meet user needs.
  • Work closely with users throughout the company to ensure the highest level of availability and efficient execution of their interactive and batch jobs.
  • Manage user requests and issue tickets until resolved and users are satisfied, adequately document issues, including correctly updating status and prioritization of issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and independently get tasks done and manage time and projects.
  • Able to perform on short deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
About you:

  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Communications: delivers clear, effective communication and takes responsibility for understanding user needs. Ability to express ideas and views clearly to others in writing.
  • Good documentation skills.
  • User support: demonstrates a commitment to service; serves and satisfies internal customers; holds one's self accountable for quality outcomes.

Your experience includes:

  • At least two years applicable experience with Linux cluster administration, configuration, management, and user support.
  • Experience with CentOS or RedHat enterprise linux.
  • Experience with a Linux scheduler like Slurm, PBS, Sun Grid Engine.
  • Experience with system imaging technologies like OpenHPC, Warewulf, and Rocks Cluster.
  • Experience with GPU computing.
  • Experience with common script languages (Bash, Perl, Python, etc).
  • Experience with configuration, compilation, and installation of open source software and MPI.
  • Experience with mass disk technologies like RAID, NAS
  • Experience with license managers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365
  • Familiar with scientific computing, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence applications.
