Job Description

Summary:

The Physics Support Specialist is primarily responsible for Physics and Treatment Planning-related Customer Support and Training activities. He/she will work within the Physics Support team and interface closely with the Sales, Marketing, Applications Support, Field Service, R&D, and Engineering teams in direct support of customers and a variety of cross-functional project-related work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site and phone support to ensure customers can effectively utilize their systems to treat patients.

  • Provide training, in a variety of formats, to both new and current customers of the Accuray systems.

  • Participate in the development of user and customer support documentation and training materials that will facilitate the successful use of the company's products.

  • Act as liaison between customers and marketing/development in providing suggestions for product improvements, enhancements, or corrections.

  • Provide clinical input and review of new products and proposals, representing the needs of the customer and of customer support.

  • Work with R&D Physics to test upcoming releases of product platforms and evaluate systems in development.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of processes and programs within the Physics group.

  • Maintain knowledge of current clinical practices.

Qualifications:

a. Required

  • Master's degree or higher in Medical Physics or related field.

  • Clinical experience in Radiation Therapy (RT) or significant experience commissioning and maintaining Linac systems used in radiation therapy.

  • Experience troubleshooting and or supporting Linac operation from within an RT department or in a support role.

  • Experience with treatment planning, treatment delivery, Linac QA, and other operations of an RT operation.

  • Experience in a customer support role or training role for medical imaging or radiation treatment environment.

  • Ability to travel to customer sites and other locations, domestically and internationally up to 50%.

b. Preferred or Desired

  • Previous experience using Accuray product platforms.

  • Experience with TomoTherapy/Radixact systems.
