Clinical Pharmacy Intern


Thrifty White Pharmacy is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Intern in Fargo, ND to assist Pharmacists as part of the Patient Care Team. Focusing on patient outcomes by providing best in class service. Working toward improving patient and practice outcomes. Including skilled professional pharmaceutical consulting, disease state management, Medication Therapy Management, and administration of immunizations as allowed. Ensuring appropriate, reliable and consistent patient care through the distribution, control, and delivery of pharmaceuticals according to professional standards and state and federal law.


This is a part-time to full-time position. May also include shifts in other areas of the store or nearby locations.


Applicants must have the following:


  • A pharmacy intern license in North Dakota and Minnesota, or the ability to receive a pharmacy intern license without any federal sanctions.

  • Current Immunization Certification (as allowed)

  • Current CPR Certification (as allowed)

  • Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:


  • Prepares information for Pharmacists to complete Comprehensive Medication Reviews and Targeted Medication Reviews.

  • Assists in meetings with patients for Comprehensive Medication Reviews and Targeted Medication Reviews.

  • Works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient safety and ensure practices are safe and effective.

  • Keeps an organized workflow for providing clinical services and patient counseling.

  • Utilizes existing computer resources to maximize retrieval of clinical information for monitoring and review of medications.

  • Assists in providing all clinical pharmacy services and aids in the dispensing of medications and related supplies when needed.

  • With experience, counseling patients on their medications.

  • Works with the Pharmacist Preceptor to learn functions of the Pharmacist's job.

  • Providing excellent customer service to customers by building loyalty and repeat business.

  • Champions Thrifty White programs to patients such as Ready Refill, Medication Synchronization and HealthyPackRx and assists with enrolling patients.

  • Answering patient questions regarding OTCs and prescriptions based on experience.

  • Seeking out and pursuing opportunities to educate at senior centers, employers, doctor's offices, public officials and other community gatherings.

  • Maintains high standards in patient care services.

  • Helping prepare hard copy insurance claims when necessary.

  • Obtaining and documenting approval for refill prescriptions from physicians to ensure proper authorization is recorded on all prescriptions.

  • Providing and promoting immunizations in store and with local employers, community centers, and government officials

  • Able to learn and implement new and changing technologies on an ongoing basis.

  • Able to maintain flexibility in new or changing work roles and the modification of job responsibilities as required.

  • Willing to help anywhere in the store or nearby locations as needed.

  • Good attendance and punctuality is required in order to fulfill the essential job functions.
