Job Description

The Data Scientist will analyze large internal and external data sets from different sources, build and maintain custom reporting for key stakeholders, and articulate insights to cross-functional partners. The successful candidate should have extended business knowledge as well as technical skillsets. Moreover, the Data Scientist should have strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills in order to communicate insights gathered through complicated data science practices to key stakeholders. This role demands constant interaction with internal colleagues from different functions, backgrounds, and skill sets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create actionable customer insights to support BU, Sales, and WMT initiatives, and drive customer results and relationships
  • Identify whitespace opportunities at Walmart and articulate the size of prize to key stakeholders
  • Create and maintain alert and reporting systems to drive actions and reduce reaction time from team
  • Deliver constant improvement to Walmart Customer Data team's role in achieving revenue and profit goals

  • WMT Customer Business Team: Retail, Finance, HR, Customer Service, Sales
  • Suppliers: Customer Research, Data Management, Data Analytics, Retail Services

Qualifications / Skills

  • BA/BS in a field related to quantitative analytics (i.e., Math, Statistics, or a related field)
  • 3+ years of experience doing quantitative analytics in CPG, technology, or consulting companies
  • Insatiable intellectual curiosity and drive for excellence in analytics
  • Strong experience in strategy, data analytics, and CPG sales
  • Self-starter and problem solver
  • Strong leadership with peers, reports and collaborators to achieve goals
  • Experience conducting big data analysis
  • Demonstrated experience applying data science methods to real-world data problems
  • Experience utilizing visualization tools to take advantage of the growing volume of available information
  • Proficiency in Alteryx, Tableau, Snowflake, Retail Link a significant plus
  • Proficiency in programming languages associated with data science and relationship database management systems: SQL, R, Python, and others also a strong benefit
  • Ability to develop algorithms to identify actionable insights for the team
  • Competency in designing and executing predictive analytics
