Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW: Under direction of the Director of Engineering, the Application/Sales Engineer will provide technical product design and integration of products to meet customer requirements.  This position will work closely with Nelson account managers to develop workable solutions and troubleshoot issues.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Work closely with account management/customers to develop a workable fluid flow system layout and to identify and resolve system-level issues. Act as engineering face to customer.
  • Design and integrate Exhaust products/systems for on highway and off highway markets to meet customer requirements.
  • Generate/maintain detailed models of designs and system level Bill of Materials.
  • Generate specifications for product (2D prints, Engineering specifications, etc)
  • Initiate and coordinate the technical support work (including mechanical design, FEA and CFD analyses, acoustical, flow and vibration testing, drafting, prototypes, etc.) required to develop system components against technical profile deliverables.
  • Work closely with manufacturing personnel to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost reduction.
  • Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability) is implemented in development of design (DQR, DVA, Design Reviews, etc)
  • Process 7 step issue resolution and report as necessary.
  • Maintain and manage project schedules.
  • Travel to customer and supplier sites as necessary, perform on-site testing, and present our technology – 10-25% travel required
  • Review/Approve/Process Customer Print Conformance
  • Perform other duties and projects as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS Mechanical Engineer or equivalent educational degree is required.
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics required.
  • 1 to 5 years of experience as related to product design using solid modeling tools (Inventor preferred).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong ability to do CAD modeling/print creation
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Able to work Independently, remain motivated and be customer focused.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work in cross functional team environment
  • Computer proficiency in Office applications
