Job Requirements

Identification, specification and execution of plant improvement projects delivering measurable results to advance the safety, quality, and efficiency of manufacturing processes at the Madison plant.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Define plant improvement opportunities using engineering insight, process knowledge, plant team engagement and valid data analysis.

* Recommend changes and build justification for improvements to the site from a number of perspectives, (production, maintenance, technology, safety, etc.)

* Build relationships with production, maintenance, EHS (Environmental Health and Safety), QA and Manufacturing Technology colleagues in order to safely and efficiently execute project tasks.

* Navigate the site change control process to ensure project compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.

* As needed, obtain quotes from, direct, and supervise contractors for completion of site projects

* For projects as assigned, lead project execution from start to finish, keeping all the above in mind.

* Apply the same project leadership principles to subsets of larger capital projects. This will include leading commissioning and project handover efforts from the production standpoint.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Bio/Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial) Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of food products/ingredients

* Knowledge of production processes, quality assurance, quality control, costs and site specific quality programs such as GMP's, HACCP, FSSC 22000, NSF, ICH Q7, etc.

* Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

* Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance

* Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affective outcomes

* Experience troubleshooting equipment/processes to determine operating errors and recommend appropriate action


Working Conditions
This position operates in both the office and plant environments. A strong plant presence is a must.

Must adhere to plant GMP's and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate in accordance with plant policy.
