Overview

As a Network Specialist in the Video Network Deployment team, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of TDS Telecom's Service Provider TDS TV+, Media Room, Cable Video, and Network Policy Control and Reporting platform as well as service delivery to our customers. This position will join the highly technical team responsible for the operational health and performance of the IP based next gen video products in both our wireline and cable properties.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.

Responsibilities
    Implement and support a complex IP Video delivery network based on multi-vendor solutions and provide support to our Wireline and DOCSIS video customers.
  • Provide problem resolution and root cause analysis as well as proactive reporting and monitoring to support the infrastructure.
  • Participate on a variety of project teams to integrate and deploy infrastructure for TDS IP Video products. Use a combination of Open Source and commercial solutions to complete projects.
  • Develop and execute test plans and manage the staging and service provider environments.
  • Provide direct customer support for our flagship products and managed services.
  • Perform change management activities during scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of Internet technologies, Network Policy Management services and IP Video services and sharing that knowledge with team members and business partners.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree (or higher) -OR- 2+ years professional work experience.
  • 2+ years experience in Voice/Data/Video networking.

Other Qualifications

Technical:

Is familiar with the following area and has subject matter expertise in multiple technologies and their inter-workings:

  • Experience with managing a Content Delivery Network
  • Experience with IP Video codecs, RTP, QOS, and SIP
  • Experience leading technical teams
  • EMC SAN and NAS experience
  • F5 Load Balancer experience
  • Nagios and NetExpert experience
  • Ability to perform systems design, deployment, and support of Internet facing technologies such as e-mail systems, web servers, name servers, and application servers
  • Ability to perform reporting, analysis, monitoring, and troubleshooting using tools such as Operating System utilities and hardware diagnostic utilities
  • Ability to install and perform maintenance on server equipment located in a data center environment

Additional Skills:

  • Able to participate in a small group to work specified network issues/projects.
  • The ability to manage changing priorities and to handle several tasks concurrently with assistance.

  • Requires software knowledge and skills in business and office applications, such as spreadsheets, database applications, word documents, network drawing tools, basic network applications (telnet, FTP Client, FTP Server) and basic Unix tools.
  • The ability to comprehend and execute tasks based on priority in to achieve maximum performance cost effectively.
  • Basic mathematical and statistical analysis.

Other:

  • Ability to travel as necessary if the needs of the business dictates.
  • Ability to participate in a rotating, week long on call schedule for after-hours emergencies.
