Schedule Details/Additional Information:
4days a week, Mon, Wed, Thursdays 8:30-3:00, Fridays 9:30-4:00. No Weekends.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists with patients using appropriate techniques and procedures to perform minor hearing aid repairs, cleanings and programming. Sends hearing aids out for difficult or extensive repair. Orders new hearing aids for patients as directed by audiologist.
  • Assists audiologist in direct patient care as needed per site.
  • Communicates with audiologist and other members of the health care team. Documents and communicates accurate and timely information regarding patient questions and needs.
  • Performs occupational health hearing tests and counseling per site requirements.
  • Provides office support. May include, but not limited to the following: Scheduling appointments, organizing/preparing exam rooms, cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, checking equipment, managing referrals and prior authorizations and processing work queues.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) certification issued by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) needs to be obtained within 2 years.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 0 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
  • Audiology Assistant Certification issued by Nova Southeastern University. needs to be obtained within 1 year, or
  • Audiology Assistant Certification issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) needs to be obtained within 1 year.

Education Required:

  • High School Graduate.

Experience Required:

  • No experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hearing standards of operation.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks/responsibilities with efficiency in a busy clinic setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain tests and procedure to patients.
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office products, electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch.
  • Will be exposed to the following hazards on a frequent basis: mechanical, electrical, and chemical as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, must wear protective clothing or equipment as necessary.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
