About Us



Quartz is the result of the forward-thinking integration of Gundersen Health Plan and Unity Health Insurance – two organizations aligning their business needs in order to better serve members. Quartz will be responsible for managing these two nationally recognized, provider-sponsored health plans, with the primary goal of making sure that the local communities they serve have access to innovative, high-quality and affordable health care. Quartz also is a third-party administrator of self-funded health plans.

Our Purpose


We believe that the health insurance industry should do far more than just provide access to doctors and cover or administer claims. The way we see it, health care plans should help people live healthier. Which is exactly what makes us different. This means that certain plans will offer access, not only to local physicians throughout the UW Health and Gundersen Health System areas, but also to specialty care at Gundersen Health System, UW Health’s American Family Children’s Hospital and UW Health’s University Hospital – rated best in Wisconsin by U.S. News and World Report*.
