Company Overview

Wisconsin Youth Company (WYC) is a non-profit organization operating since 1974. WYC has been providing care and enrichment programs for school age children for over 40 years.  The organization has grown to include 27 after school sites in 10 communities in Dane and Waukesha Counties.  WYC’s summer day care grew to become a summer day camp program with locations in both counties starting in 1989.  Wander Wisconsin, an outdoor skills and travel camp experience for older children, began as a summer camp week in 1988 and now operates week-long travel clubs and outdoor exploration camps.  In 1994 WYC began offering summer skill-based courses for middle school students through Middle School U.

In 1998, WYC purchased the former Eagle School building at 1201 McKenna Blvd. in Madison to house the administrative offices.  A neighborhood center was established at this location, Elver Park Neighborhood Center (EPNC) to serve the Greater Elver Park Neighborhood residents, offering a K-5 school year and summer program for elementary children and recreational programs for middle and high school youth.

WYC hosted its first annual Celebrating Youth! event in 1999 at Monona Terrace, providing a showcase for youth talent.  In 2008 we began offering after school World Language classes and in the summer, immersion programs in circus arts and later language and theater. Summer 2013 we began offering the theater immersion program. In 2015, WYC partnered with the City of Madison to open the Theresa Terrace Neighborhood Center to serve families in the Theresa/Hammersley neighborhood.

The goal of Wisconsin Youth Company is to continue to provide high quality programs to school age children, programs that offer unique learning opportunities in safe settings with caring and responsible adults.
