Job Description

SPL is a growing, innovative manufacturer of pharmaceuticals with career growth opportunity in all areas of the organization. We are looking for a QC Supervisor who is motivated, flexible, team oriented, and holds the highest integrity.
 
The QC Supervisor works across different departments and teams, and is responsible for overseeing the QC Microbiology and PCR team. This position is critical to ensuring daily activities and demands are met for product testing turnaround time. The QC Supervisor oversees release testing for routine and non-routine samples, and works closely with team members on training and coaching.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage technical projects within QC and for other departments as needed.
  • Provide guidance to analysts running testing
  • Write and/or review studies, protocols and method validations
  • Provide guidance and support to the Microbiology and PCR laboratories on new laboratory methodologies
  • Provide guidance and support to the PCR and Microbiology laboratories on use of troubleshooting of existing instrumentation-based and chemical analyses
  • Function as a liaison between QC and other departments

 
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:

  • 4-year degree in microbiology, biotechnology, chemistry or related field is required

Experience:  

  • Position requires at least 4 years of hands on laboratory experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry
  • Must have 2 or more years of supervisory experience
  • Understanding and experience with automated laboratory data systems (LIMS and/or ELN) is required
  • Must have experience implementing new procedures and writing and reviewing technical documents
  • Molecular biology techniques such as qPCR or MPS experience preferred:

Standards:    

  • The candidate must have strong knowledge of cGMP, USP microbiological testing
  • Position requires expertise in microbiology including species identification and the application of microbiology testing and monitoring to pharmaceutical or food product production and quality controls
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are required
  • Position requires demonstrated skill in the application of statistics to the analysis and presentation of data
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of good documentation practices is a requirement
