Job Description
Scientific Protein Laboratories is a biopharmaceutical leader in the development and manufacturing of heparin, pancreatin, heparin derivatives, naturally derived pharmaceuticals, and recombinant proteins from microbial fermentation. We have an immediate opening in Waunakee, WI (Madison area) for a Development Scientist.
This position is responsible for independently performing product, process and assay development for internal projects or client projects. The Development Scientist performs lab and pilot scale production and/or method validation. In addition, the incumbent will provide support to Production, Quality Control, and Marketing Departments concerning technical matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop processes for product synthesis, isolation and purification and/or develop assays for existing as well as new products.
- Perform lab and pilot scale production of GMP and non-GMP products and/or method validation.
- Design, execute and interpret experiments/investigations in support of new and existing products.
- Provide technical support to Quality Control, Production and Marketing and write clear and concise reports for projects performed for these departments.
- Comply with cGMP's, write SOPs, validation protocols and other documentation as required by regulations.
- Order lab supplies and equipment and perform general lab maintenance which is required of all R&D employees.
JOB STANDARDS:
Education:
- Minimum of PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biological Sciences is required.
Experience:
- Up to 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical industrial research experience
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in Downstream Processing / Purification of proteins are required.
- Exposure to analytical method development for in-process methods is preferred.
