Job Description
 
Scientific Protein Laboratories is a biopharmaceutical leader in the development and manufacturing of heparin, pancreatin, heparin derivatives, naturally derived pharmaceuticals, and recombinant proteins from microbial fermentation. We have an immediate opening in Waunakee, WI (Madison area) for a Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis.
 
The Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis manages the financial planning and analysis function. This position supervises the creation of reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting, develops and maintains cash flow forecasting, and manages the annual budgeting process. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Develops and maintains planning and budgeting systems and prepares frequent reports on the organization's financial performance.
  • Analyzes and interprets financial trends. Prepares reports detailing findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Supports the management team by developing operating budgets based on sales projections.
  • Measures and explains actual performance against projections for sales and costs.
  • Works with the VP of Finance to develop and achieve long-term financial goals.
  • Forecasts short and long-term cash requirements to achieve growth plans.
  • Coordinates and directs the preparation of budget and financial forecasts.
  • Supervises Lead Financial Analyst position.
  • Makes sure organization has adequate liability and property insurance coverage.
  • Prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in terms of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.
  • Conducts tax planning and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
  • Develops and maintains general business knowledge and reads appropriate professional and technical journals and publications.
  • Assists in general accounting as needed, including with the preparation of timely financial statements
 
JOB STANDARDS:
Education
 
  • Bachelor's Degree required, with a degree in relevant field (Accounting, Finance or similar)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • MBA or Master's Degree in a business related field highly preferred
Experience
 
  • At least 5 years of experience required
Standards
 
  • The candidate must have strong business analysis, financial management, and decision making skills; be proficient in forecasting and trends, as well as change management, risk management, and bring demonstrated experience working at multiple levels of an organization.
