Job Description
Scientific Protein Laboratories is a biopharmaceutical leader in the development and manufacturing of heparin, pancreatin, heparin derivatives, naturally derived pharmaceuticals, and recombinant proteins from microbial fermentation. We have an immediate opening in Waunakee, WI (Madison area) for a production employee in our Solvent Recovery department. The shift hours are 6pm-6am Wednesday & Thursday, every other Friday-Sunday.
 
The Process Operator is responsible for safely performing all basic departmental duties, under general supervision, to support Heparin and Pancreatin production schedules. They work to maintain regulatory compliance for all activities. This role develops functional knowledge and common mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting/resolving operational problems and disruptions. The Process Operator works to gain full understanding of all regulatory/safety issues directly related to the handling and transfer of all departmental associated bulk solvents.
 
 
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Operate all distillation equipment, peptone evaporator, and titration equipment per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Follow all SPL safety practices and procedures and use Good Documentation Practices (GDP's). Coordinate all solvent transfers to proper locations and/or storage tanks.
  • Fill tankers with concentrated peptone and pancreatin fat and schedule the dispatching of those tankers with the contract hauler.
  • Perform minor maintenance of equipment as required.
  • Adhere to established work schedules in a consistently reliable manner, and perform job responsibilities and delivers work products on a dependable and timely basis.
  • Recognize potential production problems and hazardous situations and follow proper procedures to correct and/or report the incident/situation.
  • Departmental scheduling and daily planning to support production department work loads.
  • Initiate work orders for necessary repairs to equipment.
  • Troubleshoot/resolve moderate to complex operational problems to ensure proper functionality of department and all related equipment.
  • Daily inspection of all departmental equipment and work areas to ensure safe operating conditions. Maintain cleanliness of all work areas. Keep all outside work areas free of snow, ice and debris. Also keep all containments free of water.
  • Primary contact for contract haulers.
  • Receives, unloads and loads solvent tankers and enters information into computer systems.
