Job Description
 
Scientific Protein Laboratories is a biopharmaceutical leader in the development and manufacturing of heparin, pancreatin, heparin derivatives, naturally derived pharmaceuticals, and recombinant proteins from microbial fermentation. We have an immediate opening in Waunakee, WI (Madison area) for a Technician in our growing Research and Development department. This team is responsible for manufacturing commercial products, materials for clinical supplies, new drug development, and other internal projects as well as supporting the heparin and pancreatin businesses. With limited direction/supervision, this position leads lab and pilot scale production for the contract development and manufacturing business. This role also assists in development of new products, processes and assays.
 
Responsibilities
  • With limited direction/supervision, lead lab and pilot scale production of GMP and non-GMP products for the contract development and manufacturing business.
  • Accurately document work, comply with cGMP’s, safety requirements and follow standard operating procedures and manufacturing instructions.
  • With limited direction/supervision, execute validation protocols, research studies, and laboratory experiments in support of process development. Assist in the preparation of experimental reports.
  • Train and mentor less experienced technicians on equipment use, procedures, and production processes.
  • Provide technical support to Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Validation, and Production departments.
  • Order lab supplies and equipment, wash glassware, lab and pilot equipment, and perform general lab maintenance as required.
  • Work overtime or extended hours as needed by department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree in Biotechnology or related field preferred
At least 1 year of relevant experience required
