The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Systems Administrator to join our growing team. In this position, you will work in Singlewire’s Madison office and be responsible for Singlewire’s internal information systems.  This is a newly created position. You will have the opportunity to leverage your experience in working to create solutions for Singlewire’s internal IT needs and collaborating on systems needs with Singlewire’s SaaS DevOps team.
 
The job responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for Singlewire’s server and storage infrastructure including operating systems, virtualization systems and hardware.
  • Maintains server and storage architectures and recommend, plan and implement new systems for a growing organization.
  • Design and maintain the effective delivery of new builds, upgrades, configuration changes ensuring procedures are implemented and followed properly to maintain overall system availability and integrity.
  • Responsible for permissions and security.
  • Responsible for capacity planning and monitoring.
  • Design and test effective data backup and recovery processes.
  • Mentor team members to mature in their capabilities and contributions to the organization.
  • Report on key metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to ensure system capacity, health and availability.
  • Develop and execute on long range technology strategy roadmaps, including working with outside consultants on significant projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on shared goals and projects.
  • Documenting, troubleshooting and resolving helpdesk and incidents tickets and change requests following documented change management procedures.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
  • Developing and maintaining operations procedures.
You May Be Right for Us If You Have:
  • 10+ years’ IT experience, with at least 5+ years’ in a sophisticated server/storage environment
  • A desire to learn new technologies and collaborate with teammates to create solutions to new technology challenges.
  • Undergraduate or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience with VMware and vSphere
  • General knowledge of storage technologies such as iSCSI, NAS, RAID, ACLs, snapshots and back-up concepts
  • Experience managing a collocated data center a plus
  • VMWare Certified Professional desired
  • Advanced knowledge of system vulnerabilities and security issues
  • Ability to respond to help desk requests after hours
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with proven ability to multitask in a high paced environment
