Our Madison, Wisconsin office is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. The position responsibilities are focused primarily on the design of mechanical infrastructure systems with an emphasis in hydronic systems, cooling towers, geothermal systems, heat pump technologies, complex pumping systems, and building automation control systems for large campus or central plant utility projects. This role will require providing technical leadership for the creation of construction drawings and specifications, system feasibility studies, and master planning efforts. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others regarding the implementation of highly technical and complex mechanical systems while developing effective working relationships. We are looking for a highly motivated engineer to be part of our growing firm.
Here are the details of your duties in this role:
Lead and oversee the mechanical design team and associated efforts from the initial study and conceptual phases through multiple design phases, and to the end of construction for complex systems such as large central energy plants for higher education, industrial and commercial facilities.
Apply advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering/design concepts, principals, practices, codes, and procedures within the mechanical engineering services industry.
Create clear, accurate construction documents and engineering building specifications.
Complete research of material and product data to support the mechanical systems as necessary for the project.
Prepare system design calculations to support selection of material and equipment. Prepare project specifications to support material, equipment, and construction of the mechanical system design.
Provide quality control and assurance of related drawings, specifications.
Provide oversight and facilitate coordination of work completed by junior engineers.
Assist in the procurement of new work including the development of client relations and participation in project interviews and client presentations.
Identify, recommend, and implement new technologies and systems to aid our organizational and design processes.
To succeed in this role, you need to meet the following basic requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license
LEED certification / experience is a plus
Minimum 8 years design experience
Knowledge in the design of mechanical systems
Knowledge and understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines
Proactively engaged in new technologies to enhance your skill sets
Excellent work ethic and attitude
Good communication skills, combined with organizational and time management skills, the ability to plan, balance and prioritize work
Ability to lead a team and work as a team
Proficiency in Auto CAD, Revit, and MS Office
Ability to travel
