Job Description
The Utility Designer 2 position is responsible for basic design, detailed drawings, and permitting of telephone, electric, and/or gas projects within the area of assigned responsibility. 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Completes basic utility designs under the direction of others.
  • Collects field data
  • Assembles drawings using AutoCAD
  • Completes tabs and populates information in proprietary customer software.
  • Completes permitting process with local authorities.
  • Coordinates with construction crew for installation of facilities per the design.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • 2 year’s minimum experience in the utility industry, preferably design related work and thereby possessing knowledge of basic utility standards.
  • Associates degree in civil engineering or civil technology are useful, but not required. 
  • Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Ability to manage numerous tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management within the organization. 
  • Ability to handle confidential information. 
  • Position will work on projects primarily in the Madison and Southwest Wisconsin areas.
