Job Description
The Utility Designer 2 position is responsible for basic design, detailed drawings, and permitting of telephone, electric, and/or gas projects within the area of assigned responsibility.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes basic utility designs under the direction of others.
- Collects field data
- Assembles drawings using AutoCAD
- Completes tabs and populates information in proprietary customer software.
- Completes permitting process with local authorities.
- Coordinates with construction crew for installation of facilities per the design.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- 2 year’s minimum experience in the utility industry, preferably design related work and thereby possessing knowledge of basic utility standards.
- Associates degree in civil engineering or civil technology are useful, but not required.
- Must have working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Ability to manage numerous tasks/projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing competing priorities.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management within the organization.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Position will work on projects primarily in the Madison and Southwest Wisconsin areas.
