The Madisonoffice of SmithGroupis looking for aPlumbing Engineerto join our team.

Working with us, you will:

  • Lead design and documentation of plumbing systems including floor plans, riser diagrams, equipment selection, scheduling, and specifications.
  • Prepare facility condition assessments and write technical reports.
  • Develop solutions to challenging plumbing issues with integrated architecture and engineering project design teams.
  • Employ sustainable design principles and document sustainable design performance.
  • Participate, where requested, in client meetings.
  • Coordinate your work with all disciplines and consultants.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and contractor proposed change orders, and conduct site observations.
  • Provide plumbing design and leadership for projects across multiple offices.
  • Provide oversight and monitoring of the work performed by junior staff.
  • Mentor and train junior-level engineers.
  • Assist mechanical engineers on engineering tasks for a project, assuring that technical, schedule and hours-expended targets are met in accordance with client expectations and applicable professional standards.

An ideal candidate has:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3-7 years of engineering experience in buildingplumbing systems with an A/E or MEP consulting firm.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
  • Certification in Plumbing Design preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing design, codes and standards.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resourceful and team-oriented problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit and Microsoft Office.
  • Diversified engineering experience in HVAC, fire protection or automatic control systems a plus.
  • A desire to take an active role in a local professional association.
  • A commitment to continuing education.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
