The Application Specialist role within Bruker Nano Analytics is focused on the success of EDS, EBSD, and uXRF product lines in advanced materials and semiconductor customers. This position is responsible for providing technical support to our industrial and academic customers and conducts customer training, sales demonstrations, technical feasibility studies, product testing, and close interaction with SEM/TEM manufacturers (OEMs).

The Application Specialist is supporting existing customer applications and developing new applications to grow in the advanced materials market. The key focus areas are semiconductor, electronics, advanced materials, batteries, mining, oil and gas, and other industrial and academic applications. The Applications Specialist is part of our global application support team and works closely with product management and R&D team to help to develop and release new products, applications, and solutions.

Responsibilities
    Provides technical application support to customers and carries out advanced trainings, feasibility studies, demonstrations, and presentations
  • Provides product and application specific technical support to field sales organization, including the development of support materials and customer-facing literature
  • Attends exhibitions, workshops, and conferences to support market development and sales activities
  • Provides technical presentations to customers and partners at technical meetings/trade shows
  • Carries out application feasibility studies and presents technical data with sales representatives to end customers
  • Prepares application notes and white papers
  • Manages incoming sample requests, customer samples, and internally owned calibration samples
  • Develop new analytical applications for our customers and present to sales and marketing teams
  • Manages and executes advanced customer trainings in a timely fashion
  • Works closely with Product Management and Sales team to ensure that customer requirements are met
Qualifications
  • 3+ years analytical instrumentation experience. Must have experience with EDS and EBSD technology - XRF experience is a plus
  • BS in Materials Science, Physics, or related field (MS or PhD desired)
  • Experience in the core markets of materials science
  • Basic laboratory and sample preparation skills
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and statistical process control
  • MS Office, with high proficiency of PowerPoint and Excel for data analysis required
  • Ability to work with partners using different SEM equipment depending on current projects
  • Interest to work in a small-to-mid sized organization, requiring multiple roles and flexibility to adjust to needs of the organization and/or markets
  • Interest and ability to work in global organization, which requires in some cases, ability to communicate outside of normal business hours
  • Technical credibility and strong written and oral communication skills area must for this position
  • Require up to 50% travel including some international
  • The position will be based in Madison, WI
