Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE day shift position. Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00AM - 5:00pm, no weekends, holidays or on-call required. You'll assist in coverage across three Geriatric Clinics. Hours may vary baed on the operational needs of the department.

Pay: UW Health offers a competitive compensation package. Work experience that is relevant to the position will be taken into consideration when determining the starting base pay. External hires may be eligible for up to a $3,000 sign-on bonus (pro-rated based on FTE).

Medical Assistants in Geriatrics are expected to "speak the patient's language" and act as a liaison between the physician and patient. Understanding the special challenges older patients face and having the tools to overcome them will make you a valuable asset to this team.

We are seeking a Medical Assistant (MA, CMA, RMA, CCMA, LPN) to:

  • Join UW Health physicians specializing in geriatrics and gerontology who provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, primary and specialty care for individuals over 65 years of age.
  • Assist in the subspecialty areas of Memory Clinic, Fall Clinic, Geriatric Assessment Clinic and Perioperative Optimization of Senior Health (POSH) Clinic.
  • Promote preventative health services, healthy lifestyles, wellness, and education.
  • Prepare patients for examination, obtain vital signs, document chief complaint, medications and allergies and administer medications and treatments.
  • Conduct pre-visit planning phone calls.

Education:

Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalent and ONE of the following:

  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program OR
  • Licensure as an LPN OR
  • Completion of the UWH Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program OR
  • Attainment of the CCMA certification as a UWH employee OR
  • Acceptance into the UWH MA Apprenticeship Program - Accelerated OR
  • One year of recent Medical Assistant experience and CMA, RMA or CCMA Certification

Work Experience:

Preferred - One (1) year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum -

  • Certified as CMA, RMA, or CCMA or eligible for certification. Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of hire date.
  • If applying in lieu of Medical Assistant education or LPN licensure, must have current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification.
  • CPR/BLS certification
