Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks to hire a faculty member with research and teaching interests in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Medical Imaging. This position is part of a campus-wide cluster initiative to expand and broaden interdisciplinary expertise in AI in Precision Medical Imaging and Diagnostics. The three faculty comprising the cluster will build a world-class core of interdisciplinary strength in artificial intelligence, computational imaging, computer vision, medical imaging, and AI in medical diagnostics that integrate imaging data with other medical information.

The cluster hiring initiative involves the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Radiology, Medical Physics, Computer Sciences, and the Business School. The successful candidate will develop fruitful collaborations with existing medical imaging research programs, within and across the College of Engineering, the School of Computer, Data, and Information Sciences, and the School of Medicine and Public Health, and with extramural partners beyond UW-Madison. The cluster faculty member recruited for this position will have a tenure home in either the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering or the Department of Computer Sciences. Outstanding candidates at all levels (Assistant, Associate, Full Professor rank) will be considered. Candidates who transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries are especially encouraged.

Responsibilities:

Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and contributing to curriculum updates and innovations; mentoring graduate students and supervising their research; developing and directing a successful, extramurally funded research program; participating in departmental and university shared governance; and contributing to professional and public service.

Education:

Required

The ECE and CS Departments at the UW-Madison have a long tradition of excellence in educating, mentoring, and inspiring future leaders; conducting research that is of vital importance to society; and serving Wisconsin, our nation, and the world through professional pursuits. The ECE Department currently has 49 full-time tenure-track/tenured faculty, ~400 graduate students, and ~1000 undergraduate students. The CS Department currently has 49 full-time tenure-track/tenured faculty, ~400 graduate students, and over 2500 undergraduate majors. Both departments' highly ranked undergraduate and graduate programs offer undergraduate (BS) degrees in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer sciences, and data science; multiple MS degrees; and PhD degrees in ECE and CS.
