Due to growth, we are adding Sr. Data Engineer to our Information Technology Data department

We are unable to offer remote work to residents of Alaska, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

The Sr. Data Engineer designs, develops, and maintains Navitus' data architecture, ensuring that data is correctly mapped, accessible, available, and secure. The incumbent in this role will design, implement, and maintain Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standards to enable seamless data exchange between our healthcare systems, partners, and external stakeholders.

How do I make an impact on my team?

  • Develop data mapping and transformation strategies to ensure data consistency and compatibility when exchanging information using FHIR standards.
  • Develop and maintain metadata repositories to track data lineage, transformations, and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and translate data requirements into efficient data solutions, identify interoperability requirements, and ensure successful FHIR implementations.
  • Led the design and implementation of FHIR-based APIs and data exchange mechanisms to ensure seamless interoperability between various healthcare systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), and other healthcare applications. Ensure adherence to the latest FHIR standards, guidelines, and other relevant healthcare data standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Security and Privacy: Implement robust security measures and privacy protocols to safeguard sensitive patient data during the exchange process.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize FHIR integration performance to minimize latency and ensure high system availability.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve interoperability issues promptly, working closely with technical teams and stakeholders to implement practical solutions.
  • Documentation and Training: Create comprehensive documentation for FHIR implementations, including specifications, technical guides, and training materials for end-users.

What our team expects from you?

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • 15+ years in data Integration processes
  • Experience 10+ years experience in data mapping and supporting data governance policies.
  • Experience in AWS
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing FHIR-based solutions in a healthcare environment.
  • Solid understanding of healthcare data standards, including HL7, CDA, CCD, and SNOMED CT.
  • Familiarity with healthcare interoperability frameworks, such as SMART on FHIR and IHE profiles.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data exchange protocols, such as HL7 v2, DICOM, XDS, and CCD/CDA.
  • Understanding of healthcare data privacy and security regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve interoperability challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
  • The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
