IMEG is growing, and we'd love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Structural Project Designer in our office. As a Structural Project Designer, you will be responsible for calculations, system design, equipment selections, reports, progress submittals, BIM instructions, and specifications required to assure project completeness and accuracy within the allocated period of time and monetary budget.

Some key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Prepare specifications and verify that the design meets code requirements.
  • Analyze and design simple structures using computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculations.
  • Calculate costs and time schedules for proposed work and monitor project design progress.
  • Maintain project design notebook and provide documentation for permanent record files.
  • Coordinate, design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, electrical, mechanical, clerical and equipment suppliers.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and instructions from client while maintaining good client relations; review all project documents for accuracy, completeness, and suggest improvements prior to requesting a final check.
  • Prepare and issue addendum information and respond to contractor RFI's.
  • Recognize potential project problems quickly and seek advice of the Project Manager;
  • Review design methods, procedures, changes in scope, and client correspondence with the Project Manager; conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.
  • Other duties assigned by the employer.

Key skills and abilities needed for this position are:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles, involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and structures.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs, CAD software and BIM.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.

Education and Experience requirements are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering a plus.
  • Building systems design and/or knowledge of construction techniques a plus.

Physical Requirements are:

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Salary Range $80,000- $95,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
