Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, eCommerce Media will lead the strategy, techniques, and tactics used to increase online revenue through our paid media efforts across major retailer platforms, such as Walmart.com and Amazon.com. This position will lead a team of eCommerce Media personnel, working across Spectrum Brands' Global Pet Care and Global Home Care business units. In addition, this leader will work closely with the eCommerce Sales and Operations teams to ensure business alignment, performance KPIs and goals are incorporated into the media mix decision making to garner the best possible media plans to drive eCommerce growth. The position is a people leader role with three (3) direct reports.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic (70%)

  • Be the Retailer Media steward for our brands. Understand the media plans inside and out; effectively communicate planned results on key KPIs; drive decisions, manage timelines, and ensure all who touch the media are informed and aligned to goals.
  • Develop full funnel media strategies.
    • Ensure retail media plans are in lockstep with holistic brand plans across other digital media partners (social, google, programmatic).
    • Support priority products and new product launches with integrated marketing plans.
    • Partner closely with sales, marketing, insights and creative teams.
  • Lead the tracking & development of Share of Voice and Share of Spend to ensure opportunities and/or gaps are quickly identified and actioned on.
  • Share out ecommerce performance and media support plans with key stakeholders and leadership on a continuous basis, highlighting clear and actionable performance insights.
  • Lead strategic discussions with new initiatives related to eCommerce and Omnichannel media channels; possess high ability to comprehend and analyze data to form business cases and present to the leadership team.
  • Develop innovative strategies through learnings, best practices and a robust testing framework
  • Act as the lead on the Weekly / Monthly Business Review meetings with eComm Sales team bringing relevant content that helps drive the discussion.
  • Leverage business acumen to drive influence and performance.
    • Sell media strategy into and celebrate results with key stakeholders across the organization.
    • Present media investment performance weekly, monthly and quarterly to leadership.
  • Meets with and reports to leadership and cross functional teams to communicate emerging eCommerce and retail media dynamics to gain buy-in.
  • Be a master collaborator: bring business needs for media to e-Sales teams and other cross functional teams to drive outcomes; leverage these teams to inform recommendations and strategies.
  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to implement and optimize data syndication and data distribution processes through PIM (product information management) system.
  • Lead, mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and growth.
  • Lead the relationships with key strategic eCommerce and Retail Media partners for the US and Canada.
  • Lead cross-functional meetings/discussions between brand, product, sales, creative and eCom teams on go-to-market planning.

Tactical (30%)

  • Execute media plans, creative coordination, optimization and reporting across all platforms.
  • Manage budgets and timelines for media programs.
  • Monitor and report on brand performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead the optimization of Retailer Media spend. Monitor results to ensure plans deliver as expected. Give feedback to internal and external teams to improve performance.
  • Lead development, approval, implementation and tracking of Retailer Media learning plans. Feed into testing results reporting and interpretation and lead media team POV on results and next steps.

Hosts check-in meetings to discuss progress, timing, and ensure alignment across the teams for eComm media, inclusive of Retail Media.

Education and Experience Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Analytics, or equivalent.
  • 7+ years' experience in media planning, media buying, eCommerce, Retail Media or equivalent field.
  • High fluency of Amazon Advertising is required.
Required Skills
  • Proven experience taking data driven approaches to media.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing data-driven eCommerce strategies.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, with experience in leveraging data and insights to inform strategy and optimize performance.
  • Proven success of leading direct and/or cross functional teams.
  • Must have in-platform experience across native media platforms for Amazon and Walmart Connect, including others as business arises.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Engaging with business leaders to understand strategy, articulate options, evaluate trade-offs, influence key decisions, and gain media approvals.
  • Proven success in independently managing all facets of eCommerce for a portfolio of brands with minimal guidance and reliance on external agency partners.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of deliverables required for the media team and supporting those activities.

Work Environment

This is a remote role that will require 20-30% travel to the St. Louis home office, company events and partner visits. Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
