Job Summary:

This position will work throughout the Ag Research station doing maintenance and repair of various agricultural buildings and equipment. This position will also assist as needed during busy periods with field operations which include tillage, manure hauling, and harvesting of grains and forage crops.

This position requires a knowledge of agricultural facilities and equipment to perform general preventative maintenance and diagnose, test, and repair problems. Skills include welding and fabrication. Accurate record keeping is required for recording maintenance logs, maintaining parts inventory, and billing purposes as well as meeting research needs. This position shall observe safety precautions and procedures applicable to maintenance shops and mechanical equipment as well as safe operation of farm equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities: Inspects, maintains, and repairs basic equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, and operational maintenance as needed.
  • 40% Utilizes equipment to repair and maintain standard machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • 20% Performs routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
  • 10% Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
  • 10% Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries to appropriate entities under general supervision
  • 10% Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
  • 10% Operates farm equipment and trucks when needed

Education:

Preferred

Qualifications:

Preferred minimum one year experience maintaining or repairing agricultural facilities and equipment or similar equivalent experience

License/Certification:

Preferred
CDL - Commercial Drivers License
Ability to obtain within 6 months of employment preferred.

Pesticide Applicator - State Licensure
Ability to obtain preferred

Work Schedule:

Normal hours are 8:00 am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

-Will be required to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. and climb heights up to 70 ft.
