Job Brief

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the guidance and leadership of the Team to maximize the manufacturing of company products at the lowest possible cost within standards for quality, and meeting customer delivery requirements and specifications.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and/or Facility Manager, the Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for the guidance and leadership of the Production, Warehouse, Quality, and Maintenance Teams to maximize the manufacturing of company products at the lowest possible cost within standards for quality, and meeting customer delivery requirements and specifications.

JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: These job functions relate to the job, not the individual.)

  • Prioritize, schedule and delegate work assignments, and directly supervise the production and/or warehouse personnel to maximize the manufacture of company products at the lowest possible cost within standards for quality, and meeting customer delivery requirements and specifications, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor all processes and equipment to ensure the optimum level of productivity and efficiency. Recommend measures to improve production and distribution methods, equipment performance, and product quality.

  • Ensure compliance with all personal and product safety, HACCP, housekeeping, GMPs, and organizational policies and procedures.

  • Address and resolve equipment, tool, process or personnel issues to ensure the highest levels of quality, productivity, and service to the Shareholders.

  • Participate on cross-functional project teams to improve quality, efficiency, productivity, methods, and processes.

  • Complete, organize and maintain all required paperwork, production and/or warehouse reports, records, etc.

  • Check for correct identification and warehousing of products.

  • Inspect products for adherence to quality standards.

  • Assist with interviewing, hiring and training employees

  • Assist with and Perform performance appraisals

  • Lead assigned teams for coaching, training, communicate to promote a positive and healthy work environment.

  • Work well with other departments, promote good people and team building skills.

  • As the off shift supervisor to be responsible for all departments guidance, adherence to policy and procedure, guidance for improvements, and promote cross functional teamwork.

  • To elevate accordingly with respect to the situation to each respective manager in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school with courses in general business and/or management plus three to five years of progressively responsible related experience; or six to eight years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at every level of the organization.

  • Ability to competently lead, motivate and supervise others to accomplish company goals.

  • Ability to professionally handle employee issues, conflicts, discipline, etc.

  • Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

  • Ability to problem-solve and effectively handle a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to gain a comprehensive understanding of company manufacturing processes, equipment, and products.

  • Ability to troubleshoot varying and complicated problems of downtime, production, and quality and give direction based on experience and/or team interaction to improve results.
