Job Summary:

This position is in the , at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The center is a 10,000 sf cleanroom facility for nanoscale fabrication that supports a broad range of research by students, staff, faculty and industrial clients with interest in micro and nano fabrication and device development.

The primary role of this position is for the repair, troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of cleanroom and characterization instrumentation. The position will involve all aspects equipment repair and maintenance from electronics troubleshooting and repair, installation, vacuum system repair and maintenance and preventative maintenance on cleanroom and characterization tools. Depending on experience, the successful candidate may be involved in the training of users and tool operation. The successful candidate will interact with other staff and management and users to understand and resolve equipment issues.

Education:

Required
Associate's Degree
Preferred focus in electronics or electrical engineering

Qualifications:

REQUIRED:
- At least 3 years demonstrated, hands-on electrical and electronics troubleshooting and repair experience

PREFERRED:
- Experience in semiconductor fabrication
- Experience with maintenance and repair of vacuum systems
- Pneumatic systems troubleshooting and repair
- Motor control & PLC (programmable logic controllers) wiring
- Electrical control wiring (relay logic), installation & troubleshooting
- Understanding of chemical handling protocols, and compressed gases
- Experience with chilled water recirculatory systems
- Ability to perform minor machine shop work (drill and tap holes, etc)
- Past experience working in a shared use cleanroom or characterization facility that serves the needs of a range of users
- The ability to work with scientists and engineers from a wide range of disciplines and cultures combined with an enthusiasm for working on multiple, complex scientific instruments is important

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
