Job Summary:

A Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. David Evans at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The successful applicant will lead studies directed towards achieving a functional cure for HIV-1 infection, defined as the indefinite suppression of virus replication in the absence of antiretroviral drug therapy. Research projects will involve a variety of methods, including molecular biology, biochemistry, cellular immunology, and the use of nonhuman primate models, to test novel drugs and antibody-based therapies to suppress virus replication. This is an opportunity for candidates who are interested in additional training beyond postdoctoral research or who would like to find a long-term research position.

Responsibilities will include: planning, organizing, and managing laboratory experiments and animal studies; training and supervising laboratory personnel; performing molecular biology and cell culture experience; working with collaborators; preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
PhD specializing in Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or other closely related fields.

Qualifications:

Required:
Research experience in cellular and molecular biology.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:
Research experience in virology and/or immunology, preferably in human or non-human primate systems.
Experience with personnel management and NIH project administration.

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $55,910 ANNUAL (12 months)
