POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Industrial Hygienist is to assist with the implementation and management of the IDPH respiratory protection program in the state of IL. The Industrial Hygienist will act as a liaison between LTCF, University of Chicago and Project HOPE.


PRINICIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creating and executing studies to monitor and assess employees' exposure to health risks,
    and to measure the effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies, and
    procedures.
  • Overseeing biological monitoring programs.
  • Assessing and analyzing research data, summarizing statistics, and compiling reports.
  • Proposing and leading the implementation of programs to protect employee health and
    implementing ergonomics.
  • Conduct training and session in conjunction with Lead Clinician on Project ECHO.
  • Active member of Clinical RPP Echo Team.
  • Advising and collaborating with LTCF management to resolve occupational health issues.
  • Ensuring employee awareness of occupational health and safety concerns, programs, and
    regulations by conducting training and presentations.
  • Implementing corrective actions and suspending operations if required.
  • Advising various parties on workers' compensation claims pertaining to workplace
    exposures.
  • Assist with gap analysis and LTCF/partner needs.
  • Assist Project HOPE with equipment and supply order and needs for air filtration.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Ensure that the program is in compliance with local, state, federal, and external laws,
    rules, and regulations, including all IDPH regulations and requirements.
  • Oversee the systematic and continuous data collection and analysis on the progress of
    activities over time and monitor results in terms of timeliness, quality, accuracy in line
    with the logical framework approaches (LFAs) best practice and project documents.
  • Participate in monthly reporting mechanisms and ensure the timely reporting of
    program deliverables.
  • Attend, upon delegation, coordination meetings on behalf of the organization, gather
    and share information, develop and nurture contacts within IDPH as appropriate
  • Contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization,
    notably through the application of the organizations Code of Conduct, ethics, values,
    and standpoint regarding internal and external actors.
  • Maintain frequent communication with Project HOPE Program Staff, Consultants and
    University of Chicago
  • Maintain regular communications with project HOPE for all programmatic aspects and
    operational matters related to the implementation of all grants.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree required; MPH preferred
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Outstanding people skills.
  • Proficient organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated, successful experience with US Government funding
  • Familiarity with public health initiatives, especially COVID-19 vaccination efforts
    including the work of state and local health departments.
  • Understanding of health needs of vulnerable populations in the United States.
  • Understanding and ability to work in unstable and multi-cultural environment (cultural
    sensitivity)
  • Full computer literacy and adequate administrative skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment.

  • Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level
  • Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions
  • Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation
  • While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently
